Jim Corbett National Park

Jim Corbett National Park was the first Tiger Reserve under the project in India. So from that point of view Corbett is one of the oldest as well as the largest national park of India. The park is an ideal home for many majestic animals like the Royal Bengal Tiger, Asiatic Elephant and many other wild animals. Due to healthy population of wild today, Corbett is one of best preserved parks with 164 numbers of tigers and over 600 elephants. As per the recent survey Corbett reveals the highest density of population of tigers in the country at 20/100 square kilometers. Apart from Royal Bengal Tiger Corbett is also a home to a sizeable population of the endangered Asiatic elephant and other critically endangered species including the Ghariyal.

Mammals

Some of the other known mammal species reside in Corbett include Asiatic Black Bear, Hog Deer, Walking Deer, Sambar, Sloth Beer, Yellow-throated marten, Otters and many more to list. Corbett also hosts a diversity of aqua fauna and birdlife with approximately 600 species including the great pied hornbill, white-Backed Vulture, Hodgson's bushchat, orange breasted green pigeon, Pallas fish eagle, golden oriole, tawny fish owl, Indian Pitta, Scarlet Minivet and reptile like the critically endangered Ghariyal, mugger Crocodiles, the king Cobra and many more to list.


Mammals :

Tiger leopard, elephant, Spotted deer (Axis axis),chital, sambar(Cervus unicolor), hog deer(Axis percinus), barking deer(Muntiacus muntjak), wild boar(Sus scrofa), Langoor (Presbutis entellus) , Wild pig, rhesus monkey (Macaque mulatto), sambar and jackal.


Birds :

Corbett national park has a long list of birds in its Habitat, A visit to the Jim Corbett National Park would surely be a rewarding experience for ornithologists as well as bird lovers. Some of the bird species you can find in corbett national park are : Darter, Little Green Heron, Pond Heron, Crested Hawk Eagle, Booted Hawk Eagle, Pallas Fishing Eagle, Himalayan Greyheaded Fishing Eagle, Cinerous Vulture, Crested Serpent Eagle, Kestrel, Black Partridge, Kaleej Pheasant, Red Junglefowl, Common Peafowl, Redwattled Lapwing, Spurwinged Lapwing, Pintailed Green Pigeon, Blue Rock Pigeon, Turtle Dove, Rufous Turtle Dove, Indian Ring Dove, Spotted Dove, Emerald Dove, Alexandrine Parakeet, Roseringed Parakeet, lossomheaded Parakeet, Common Hawk, Himalayan Pied Kingfisher, Lesser Pied Kingfisher, Common Kingfisher, Storkbilled Kingfisher, Whitebreasted Kingfisher, Chestnutheaded Beeater, Bluetailed Beeater, Green Beeater, Indian Roller, Broadbilled Roller, Hoopoe, Common Grey Hornbill, Indian Pied Hornbill, Great Pied Hornbill, Great Hill Barbet, Lineated Barbet, Bluethroated Barbet, Crimsonbreasted Barbet, Blacknaped Green Woodpecker, Lesser Goldenbacked Woodpecker, Longtailed Broadbill, Golden Oriole, Blackheaded Oriole, Black Drongo, and more.....Ashy Drongo, Bronzed Drongo, Greyheaded Myna, Rosy Pastor, Common Myna, etc.


Reptile :

Indian marsh crocodile, gharial, King cobra, common krait, cobra, Russels viper, python and monitor lizard.

Mahaseer, kalimuchi, kalabasu, chilwa and goonch.
